About the event
The Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, Inc. (LHC) will lead its annual snowshoe hike on Sunday, February 1, 2026 through Earle Park. The adjacent land includes the historic Old Cider Mill, Old Church Cemetery, and continuously farmed fields extending back to the indigenous Wangunk people. “A great opportunity to get out and explore the gem that is Earle Park in winter,” reports LHC Board member, Rich Sawitzke. “Snow or no snow we will hike that day,” Sawitzke continued.
The hike begins at 1:00 pm from the parking lot at Earle Park, 1325 Main Street in Glastonbury. The plan is for about a 2-mile hike, heading east toward the Connecticut River, then south along the river for the scenic views. The length of the hike, however, will be determined by weather, snow conditions and the interest of the group. Folks are encouraged to bring their snowshoes, if they have them. The hike is moderate in dry conditions, however, participants should be agile enough to use snowshoes, or navigate deep snow in boots, if they don’t have snowshoes - if conditions warrant.
The hike is open to the public and free of charge, however, voluntary contributions in furtherance of our mission will be graciously accepted!
