About the event

The Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, Inc., in conjunction with the Wind Hill Community Farm, will sponsor our annual bird walk on Sunday, May 17, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.  Please meet at Glastonbury’s Longo Open Space parking lot at 2954 Hebron Avenue.  The walk will leave from there and proceed through woodlands and hayfields and end at the Wind Hill Farm. Refreshments will greet the walkers at the end of the walk.

Michael Corcoran, LHC President, and Christine Penney will lead the walk.   Participants will be amazed at the great variety of birds identified through sound and observation. The length of the hike will be dependent on the weather and conditions.

In previous years, attendees have seen between 35-40 species of birds, with a good cross-section of local breeding species.  Highlights have included Red-eyed, Warbling, and Blue-headed Vireos; Yellow, Chestnut-sided and Blue-wing Warblers; Baltimore and Orchard Orioles; Indigo Bunting; Field and Savannah Sparrows; and Bobolink.

The walk will be held rain or shine. Heavy rain or severe weather will cancel.

All Land Heritage Coalition events are free and open to the public.  Donations are welcome as they will be used for further programming for both organizations. Wind Hill Community Farm’s mission is to promote local farming, healthy lifestyles, and environmental stewardship. More at: https://windhillfarm.org
